Let’s hear from you.

I would like my blog to be a forum for my readers to share their stories and experiences and express their views and opinions about being a part of a blended family. I am working on a book tentatively titled:Blended Family Stories. It will be an in depth look at the real life challenges and joys of successful blended families. If you would like to be part of my research I'd love to hear from you.Take my Blended Family survey

The kids start back to school next week and already the flurry of activity has started. Phone calls from soccer coaches, pleas for volunteering from the PTA and last minute schedule changes at the counselor’s office. Just when I started to cringe at the onslaught of yet another hectic school year I remembered that this year is going to be very different from years past. For starters, Sam, our oldest boy, has moved out. He is off to community college this year and is living with his mother. Cheryl starts middle school this year which is just around the corner so she can walk. Her previous school was a 10 minute ride each way out in the country away from town. Mark can also walk to school. The only two kids that will need rides are Sophia and Eva and Sophia will be getting her license this month and her dad is getting her a car so she can drive her and her sister to school and to that all I can see is FREEDOM!!!!!!!! Hooray! Hip, hip hooray! A child getting her own set of wheels is a new level of independence not only for her but for me too. I told her if she chauffeurs the kids around to their various activities I will gladly pay her insurance. Agreed. Now if I can just get them to pack their own lunches.
